What are chakras?

The word "chakra" comes from Sanskrit and means "wheel" or "circle." Chakras are energetic centers that flow through our bodies. They influence how we absorb, process, and release energy—on a physical, emotional, and mental level.

There are seven main chakras, each associated with specific colors, organs, emotions, and areas of life.

What are the 9 mysterious additional chakras?

The seven main chakras are the most well-known energy system, but many spiritual traditions and modern energy practitioners work with an expanded chakra system. These additional chakras lie outside or below the spine and connect us to higher or deeper levels of our being.

1. Earth chakra (earth element)

  • Location: Under the soles of the feet, about 30 cm below the base of the body

  • Function: Connection to the earth, stability, grounding, energetic rooting

  • Meaning: This chakra ensures that we are anchored in the physical world and can absorb energy from the earth. It gives us security and stability.

  • Color: Dark red, brown, black

  • Matching gemstones: Black tourmaline, hematite, red jasper, obsidian, smoky quartz

2. Earth Star Chakra (Earth Star or Root Star Chakra)

  • Location: About 30–50 cm under the feet, under the earth chakra

  • Function: Connects our personal energy with the collective energy of the Earth and universal forces

  • Meaning: Promotes deep rooting in the earth and helps with releasing energies that no longer serve us. Supports grounding on a soul level.

  • Color: Deep dark red to black

  • Gemstones: Black Tourmaline, Pyrite, Hematite

3. Hara Chakra (lower dantian)

  • Location: Approx. 5 cm below the navel (in the lower abdomen)

  • Function: Center for life energy (Chi, Prana), strength, endurance, willpower

  • Meaning: Source of our personal energy and inner strength, often seen as an “energy reservoir”.

  • Color: Yellow, Gold

  • Gemstones: Citrine, Goldstone, Amber, Tiger's Eye

4. Hand chakras

  • Position: Palms (one per hand)

  • Function: Outward energy flow, giving healing energy, empathy, energy transfer

  • Meaning: These chakras are important for healing professions, energetic work, creative activity, and touch.

  • Color: Pink, White, Yellow

  • Gemstones: rose quartz, rock crystal, citrine, amazonite

5. Eye chakra (inner eye or forehead chakra – expanded vision)

  • Although the brow chakra (Ajna) is the “third eye,” another eye chakra is sometimes seen between the eyes, which deepens intuition and perception.

  • Gemstones: Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Fluorite

6. Throat chakra (higher throat chakra)

  • Sometimes an additional chakra is considered above the throat chakra, which represents higher communication, expression of divine truth , and inspiration.

  • Gemstones: Aquamarine, Angelite, Chrysocolla

7. Soul Star Chakra

  • Location: Approx. 15–30 cm above the crown chakra, above the head

  • Function: Connection with one's own soul, spiritual higher consciousness, universal wisdom

  • Meaning: This chakra opens access to higher dimensions, spiritual growth and cosmic consciousness.

  • Color: White, Gold, Purple

  • Gemstones: Selenite, Herkimer Diamond, Amethyst, Rock Crystal

8. Stargate Chakra (Stargate Chakra)

  • Location: Above the soul star chakra, at a height of approximately 30–50 cm above the head

  • Function: Gateway to cosmic energies, multidimensional planes and other universes

  • Gemstones: Meteorite, Moldavite, Selenite, Lemurian Crystal

9. Navel Chakra (optional)

  • Some systems distinguish the sacral chakra from the navel chakra, which is considered a power center for self-realization and willpower.

  • Gemstones: Citrine, Tiger's Eye, Orange Calcite

Why are the additional chakras important?

  • They enable deeper and more comprehensive work with energy – not only on a physical, but also on a spiritual and cosmic level.

  • Especially in modern spiritual practice and energy work, they help to promote better grounding, clear communication, and higher states of consciousness.

  • Working with the earth and soul star chakras, for example, supports us in being connected to the earth and the universe.

What effect do chakra bracelets have:

  • Energetic balancing: They help to release blocked energy and harmonize the energy flow.

  • Emotional balance: Depending on the stone, the bracelet can have a calming, strengthening, or inspiring effect.

  • Spiritual support: Many people use chakra bracelets as a tool for meditation and mindfulness.

  • Physical vitality: Harmonizing the chakras can increase well-being.

Chakra bracelets are made of colored gemstones associated with the body's seven energy centers (chakras). They are said to support the flow of energy in the body, release blockages, and thereby promote harmony and balance. Wearing a chakra bracelet allows you to experience your everyday life more consciously and with greater energy balance. They also help reduce stress, increase general well-being, and promote spiritual growth. However, their effectiveness depends largely on the wearer's beliefs, as they are not scientifically proven.
